12 Days of Christmas Day 8

It's the eighth day in my giveaway! Can you believe it's been eight days already? WOW! Happy Monday, everyone. I know it's the beginning of the week but Christmas is right around the corner now and I hope you've all gotten a chance to give something wonderful to those you love. I had five comments yesterday so by default, those five people win a copy of The Indie Author's Guide to: Building a Great Book. The winners are: Lionel, Andrea, Becky, Sandi, and Beth. Congratulations to you all! You'll be getting your prizes shortly so watch your inbox and spambox!

Repeat from yesterday's post: On a side note, bashashhazbaz, I need you to shoot me an e-mail please. Yassabook2012 at gmail dot com. You have two prizes now that I need to get to you but I can't find your contact info anywhere. Thanks!!

For today, Monday, December 17 - Eight people who comment will win an e-copy of Yassa.

And today is the day I'm going to give you the chance to sell me your book! Well, sort of. I'll choose two indie books each day from now until the end of the twelve days and buy them. That's eight books total. Your job is to tell me why I must read them.

So, to enter the contest for today it's a two part comment:
Part 1: Tell me what law you would create to keep peace in your army. Yassa was a law created by Genghis Khan that decreed: When you pledge your loyalty to another person, you must uphold that loyalty no matter what. There was only one punishment for breaking Yassa law: death. Hey, it worked for Genghis!

Part 2: Tell me a little about your book and leave me a link so I can go check it out. If I don't choose your book on the first day, don't worry! You still have four more days to convince me. It can be your book, a book you've read, or the book of a client but they must be INDIE. Things I want to know: WHY you wrote it or read it, what age range it's geared toward, and what you love most about it.

So, there you have it. I read ALL genres and there's very little I won't try.

Good luck to you all!

Well, that's all for today, folks! Until next time, WRITE ON!

Jo

  1. Part 1:

The law I would create to keep peace in my army is Compinche. This is a Spanish word for buddy. The law would decree that no member of my army would be allowed to wander around on their own. This is for their safety and protection. It's my land's version of the Buddy System.

    Part 2:

THE CHOSEN is my first book. It's a YA fantasy about a young dwarf who discovers her true calling: She's a holy paladdin with the power to heal, and is being recruited by the Elf Queen to join The Chosen, a group of warriors, to defeat the evil Prince Gaslte, who is wrecking havoc on their world, Phantasma. Here's the full description:

Halli is a shy, young dwarf who has no idea of her true calling. When the evil Prince Gastle sets out to detroy the world of Phantasma, Queen Laurali of the Elves comes to tell Halli she's a Holy Paladin with the power to heal, and will join The Chosen, a group of brave warriors being sent to defeat the evil beast and save Phantasma. Will Halli be accepted by her group, and be able to keep them alive through their adventures? Will the evil Prince Gastle be defeated, freeing Phantasma from his destruction? Only time will tell.

I think you'll enjoy this book because it's not only a fantasy filled with knights, warriors, and evil-beings, but it has a message I hope will radiate with my readers: There's a hero in all of us. You just have to believe in yourself to find it. Reach for the stars, and make your dreams come true.

    Thanks for looking it over!

  2. That's a tough one to answer, but I guess it would be as simple as treat each person as you would treat a friend or a brother.

    1. That might work but there are some people who treat friends and brothers in a pretty shoddy manner. :( Look at dear Genghis! His best friend betrayed their trust. For people with pure hearts, it's perfect :) You can tell a lot about a person by what they write for a law ;) Thanks for sharing, Heather!

  3. well as i have no book for you to look at, i will just answer part 1. the law i would pass to keep peace would be that i would write a statement giving reasons why they would fight. i would be the first to sign it and make a covenant to keep it and require all those who volunteered for the army to do the same. those who broke the covenant they made willingly would be put to a swift death.

    1. Oh my... a dedicated reader! Your law sounds a lot like Yassa law, bas. Congratulations on winning a copy. I hope you enjoy it. I think you'll identify well with young Temujin :) Thanks for sharing!
