I am always looking for information on the author's "voice." One of the best compliments I got on my novel, Mama's Shoes was from author Silas House. After reading it, he told me I'd found my voice. But what is this elusive beast called voice?
ReplyDeleteI hope you choose my novel, Mama's Shoes!
In 1940, sixteen year old Sylvia Smith marries twenty-six year old Gaines Richardson. By 1942, Sylvia is an eighteen year old World War II widow, raising her daughter, Sassy, on her own. Stuck in the coal mining town she vowed to leave behind, Sylvia raises her daughter amidst the ruins of her broken dreams. As Sassy grows into an intelligent, book-loving teen, she is troubled by her mother’s drinking, smoking, and excessive dating. As Sassy discovers who she is, she must come to terms with her mother’s troubled past.
